Cattle loose in Butler County after semi hauler tips on U.S. Highway 54 overnight
Authorities in Butler County spent the morning corralling cattle that got loose after a semi hauling cattle tipped over on U.S. 54 near El Dorado overnight.
The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says the semi left the highway about 8 1/2 miles east of El Dorado and overturned. It’s unclear why. The Sheriff’s Office noted that visibility in the area before sunrise was “very poor due to thick fog.”
The highway was closed Tuesday morning while wreckers worked to right the semi. Loose cattle were being corralled and taken to another location, the Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook.
“Other than cattle, there are no injuries known,” the Facebook post said. Drivers were urged to avoid the area until authorities cleared the road.
