Toddler boy dies after being hit by vehicle backing out of building

A toddler boy died Sunday after a vehicle backing out of a building hit him.

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said the 2-year-old was struck by the vehicle at about 2:37 p.m. Sunday in the 12000 block of West 101st Street North. Deputies responded to a report of a home accident at an address in the area, near Bentley.

The boy was taken by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center. He died at 3:34 p.m. Sunday.

Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Allen said by email that the death remains under investigation. The Sheriff’s Office did not release the name of the child or anyone else involved.

“Our thoughts are with the family during this tragic time,” Allen said in the email.

Bentley is in northwestern Sedgwick County.
