Victim in fatal Greenwich Road crash identified

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office has identified the man killed in a one-vehicle crash on Greenwich Road early Wednesday morning as Coleton J. Stitt, 20, of Wichita.

The crash was reported at 4:24 a.m. in the 3700 block of South Greenwich Road, Lt. Lin Dehning said. That’s between 31st Street South and 39th Street South on a straight stretch of the road.

Stitt lost control of a commercial van as he was driving, Dehning said. The van went into the ditch and rolled.

Stitt was partially ejected and died at the scene, Dehning said. That stretch of Greenwich regularly sees traffic, he said, and deputies think the accident occurred no more than a half-hour before it was reported.

Greenwich was closed for more than three hours as authorities processed the crash scene. The road reopened at about 7:45 a.m., a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said.

There’s no indication speed played a role in the crash, Dehning said.
