Girl, 4, hospitalized after being pulled from Kansas Star Casino hotel pool

A 4-year-old girl is in serious condition after a she was pulled out of a hotel pool at the Kansas Star Casino late Tuesday evening, Mulvane emergency personnel said.

Dave Williams, Mulvane’s public safety director, who oversees police, fire and emergency medical services, said the call came in shortly before 9 p.m.

Before emergency personnel arrived, the child was pulled out of the pool, “conscious and breathing and crying,” Williams said.

Mulvane emergency medical services crews transported the girl to Wesley Medical Center.

Most hotels do not have lifeguards at their pools, Williams said, and there was no lifeguard at the casino, either.

The girl’s injuries are not life-threatening, he said.
