McConnell reservists deploy to Qatar
More than 20 Air Force reservists from McConnell Air Force Base have been deployed to Qatar, according to a news release from the base.
Capt. Zachary Anderson, a public affairs officer for the 931st Air Refueling Group, said the personnel will be supporting overseas contingency operations in southwest Asia. That means they will be doing air refueling missions and general maintenance while assigned to the 379th Air Expeditionary Wing at Al Udeid Air Base.
Anderson said reservists at McConnell “deploy all the time and have been doing so pretty much since Sept. 11, 2001.”
“Our airmen are highly skilled, well-trained professionals and I know they will excel in accomplishing their mission overseas,” Col. Mark S. Larson, commander of the 931st Air Refueling Group, said in the release. “We are proud of them and look forward to their safe return home.”
He did not say how long the deployment is expected to last.
