UPDATE: Woman killed in traffic collision at 21st, Oliver

One person was killed and another injured in a two-vehicle collision near Wichita State University on Monday night, authorities said.

A white Oldsmobile and a motorcycle collided at 21st and Oliver at 9:34 p.m. Monday, a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said. Two people were on the motorcycle.

The Oldsmobile was traveling south on Oliver and turned left toward 21st when it was struck by the northbound motorcycle, Lt. James Espinoza said. Both occupants of the motorcycle – the male driver and his 45-year-old passenger –were ejected.

The female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a police report on the incident. The driver was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.

Neither speed nor alcohol played a role in the collision, Espinoza said. The 17-year-old driver of the Oldsmobile is not facing charges, he said.

“At this time, it’s (considered) an accident,” Espinoza said.
