Honor flight with 27 veterans to leave Wichita on Wednesday

More than two dozen war veterans are scheduled to leave Wednesday from Wichita Mid-Continent Airport for Washington, D.C., to see their memorials.

Kansas Honor Flight is sponsoring the trip for the 27 war veterans – 10 World War II, 16 Korean and one Vietnam – that will depart at 10 a.m. and return to Mid-Continent at 6:05 p.m. Friday.

Three additional flights are scheduled by the group this year: Oct. 15-17, Oct. 28-30 and Nov. 5-7. All trips fly out of Wichita.

There is no charge for veterans to fly on the trips organized by the Hutchinson-based nonprofit. But if the veteran needs to be accompanied by another person, there will be a $700 charge that covers all traveling expenses, organizers said.

To make an application for a flight or for more information, call 620-546-2400 or go to the group’s website at kansashonorflight.org.
