Spots still available for Shocks, Cops and Kids event Saturday
About 100 spots are still open at this year’s Shocks, Cops and Kids safety and fitness event, set for Saturday, Sept. 27, at Wichita State University.
The event, featuring sports games and Internet safety workshops hosted by WSU’s basketball teams and local law enforcement, is open to third- through eighth-graders.
On-site registration and drop-off starts at 9:45 a.m. at Koch Arena, on the northwest corner of the campus, 1845 N. Fairmount.
Activities run from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. A light breakfast and lunch will be served. Participants will also receive free T-shirts.
Parents must accompany children for registration but are not required to stay at WSU throughout the event. Space is limited to the first 200 children, Wichita police Sgt. Jeff Swanson said.
Pickup is at 3:30 p.m.
For more information or to preregister, e-mail Exploited and Missing Child Unit Detective Jennifer Wright at jennifer.wright@sedgwick.gov. The event is sponsored by WSU, the Wichita Police Department and the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office.
