Katy Dorrah named director for Wichita Center for the Arts

Katy Dorrah has been named the new executive director of the Wichita Center for the Arts.

The native Wichitan’s first day at the center will be Nov. 3.

Howard Ellington had served as executive director for 16 years and this past summer took on a new job at the Center for the Arts as director of architecture programs and the Frank Lloyd Wright Study Center. That is part of an affiliation with the Allen-Lambe House Foundation, where he is also executive director.

Becky Turner has been the center’s interim director since May.

For the past 16 years, Dorrah has been vice president of resource development at the United Way of the Plains. She has also been president of the Junior League of Wichita and helped oversee projects such as Holiday Galleria, the “Pinches & Dashes” cookbook and a recruitment drive.

Dorrah is a Kansas State University graduate, receiving her bachelor’s degree in human development and family studies.
