Woman dies after crashing into trash truck near Valley Center, sheriff’s office says

One woman is dead after crashing her vehicle into a trash truck on Tuesday afternoon, officials said.

Emergency crews were called at around 1:39 p.m. Tuesday to a reported crash in the 8900 block of North Ridge Road, about 4 miles west of Valley Center, a Sedgwick County dispatch supervisor said. First responders found a patient who was in very critical condition, the supervisor said.

Rebecca Lambert, 65, was later pronounced dead as a result of the crash, Sedgwick County sheriff’s Lt. Tim Myer’s said in a release. The woman had driven her vehicle into the rear of a stopped Waste Management trash truck. The driver of the trash truck was not injured.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, the sheriff’s office said.
