Protecting children on the Internet is subject of workshop

A three-night workshop on how to keep your children safe on the Internet will begin Thursday at the Sedgwick County Extension Education Center at 21st and Ridge Road. For the first time, the sessions will be presented in English and Spanish.

Jennifer Wright, a police detective with the Exploited and Missing Child Unit, will present the program to help parents understand the technology their children use, find out where information is kept on a computer, locate the source of some of the communications children receive, and help and protect their children on the Internet.

The workshop, called Internet 101 for Parents, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. three Thursdays in a row: Sept. 25, Oct. 2 and Oct. 9. The cost is $20 per family. The sessions are for adults only. To register, call 316-660-0100.
