Police plan sobriety checkpoint in north Wichita

Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint in north Wichita this weekend.

The checkpoint will be conducted from 11 p.m. Saturday to 3 a.m. Sunday, Lt. James Espinoza said. Officers will be checking motorists for their driver’s license, proof of insurance and seat belt use.

Anyone suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will be detained for further evaluation, he said. The average motorist should not experience delays, he said.

The project is being paid for through a state grant.
