Deputy was rushing to 911 call when his car got stuck on tracks. Then came a train
A Sedgwick County Sheriff's deputy was en route to a 911 call when he lost control of his patrol car and got struck on railroad tracks, authorities said.
The patrol car became disabled on the tracks near Clifton and K-15 at about 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, Lt. Tim Myers said in a written statement.
Because the car was disabled, the deputy could not move it from the tracks, Myers said.
"Unfortunately for him, a train came through the area a few minutes after the accident," Myers said.
The train then struck the deputy's car.
The deputy was not in the car when it was hit by the train, Myers said, and no one was injured.
The crash is under investigation.
