Update June 20, 9:52 a.m.: David Allen Cook, 41, of El Dorado, died after a wreck on Interstate 235 in south Wichita Tuesday, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Original story:

One person is dead after a motorcycle crashed Tuesday afternoon on Interstate 235 in south Wichita, officials said.

The one-vehicle crash was reported at 5:17 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-235, just south of MacArthur, a dispatch supervisor said.

The motorcycle was in the median, and no lane closures had been reported to dispatch by 5:45 p.m. A Kansas Department of Transportation traffic camera at I-235 and South Broadway showed traffic backed up in both directions of the interstate after the crash was reported.

Scanner traffic indicated a Union Pacific Railroad representative had been contacted. A railroad runs under the interstate in the area of the crash.

The Kansas Highway Patrol is investigating.
