UPDATE: Toddler already home from hospital after being pulled from pool in western Sedgwick County

A 2-year-old girl has already been released from a Wichita hospital after being pulled from a pool in western Sedgwick County on Monday, authorities said.

The toddler was brought to Fire Station 39 at 3610 S. 263rd St. West at about 5:30 p.m., a Sedgwick County emergency dispatcher said.

She had been found submerged in an above-ground pool in the back yard of a house on 279th Street West near Viola, Sedgwick County sheriff’s Capt. David Mattingly said. The child was rushed to Via Christi Hospital St. Francis in critical condition, though he said authorities were confident she would recover.

“It sounds like she wasn’t under” the water “very long,” Mattingly said.

The girl was sent home on Tuesday following treatment, a Via Christi spokeswoman said. The incident remains under investigation, Mattingly said.
