House flipper ordered to pay $214,000 to victims
A Lawrence man was ordered to repay investors $214,000 for a fraudulant investment scheme he operated between 2009 and 2012.
Rod Deines, 83, solicited investors in a house flipping business called Family Homes, but used most of the money for his own personal gain, according to the Kansas Securities Commissioner.
Deines was sentenced Friday to 36 months’ probation and was ordered to pay restitution to the victims. He had pleaded guilty June 20 to three counts of securities fraud.
