Dawson Grimsley donates $1 million to Orpheum Theatre
Dawson Grimsley, an owner in Davis-Moore Auto Group, has donated $1 million to the Orpheum Theatre as part of its restoration campaign.
The next phase of restoration of the theater, at First and Broadway, is set to begin in early 2015. The next phase will include the lobby and the east stair tower.
At a recent fundraising dinner the theater also announced gifts from Fidelity Bank Foundation, $250,000; the Trust Company of Kansas, $50,000; Emily Bonavia, $50,000; Jean Garvey Charitable Foundation, $150,000; Intrust Bank, $50,000; DeVore Family Foundation, $25,000; Dennis Ross, $25,000; and Ann Garvey, $25,000.
