He tried to flee using a boat in a tiny Kansas town — it didn’t work
He tried to get away using a boat in the tiny southeast Kansas town of Chetopa. It didn’t work.
Scott Joseph Skibo, 54, of Chetopa was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and one count of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister said in a prepared statement
The indictment alleges that Skibo was found with a .40 caliber Glock handgun and at least 50 marijuana plants on Sept. 18. Kansas Bureau of Investigation agents arrested Skibo for cultivating marijuana on an island in Chetopa’s Elmore Park.
He tried to escape using a boat, McAllister said, but he was arrested. If he is convicted, Skibo faces at least five years in prison and a fine of as much as $250,000 on the weapon charge and a sentence of up to five years and a fine of as much as $250,000 on the marijuana charge.
