Private service planned for 3-year-old found encased in concrete
A funeral service for 3-year-old Evan Brewer – the Wichita boy allegedly murdered by his mother and her boyfriend – will be held this weekend.
Details about the service and burial weren’t available Thursday, said a spokeswoman for the boy’s grandfather, Carl Brewer, the former Wichita mayor and current gubernatorial candidate.
Family spokeswoman Shayla Johnston said: “This is a private ceremony for the family. We hope to have a public memorial for him in the future.”
On Sept. 2, a landlord found Evan’s body encased in concrete in his south Wichita rental home.
Evan’s mother, Miranda Miller, and the man identified as her boyfriend, Stephen Bodine, face identical murder charges. They are accused of murdering Evan while abusing him or trying to abuse him, by injuring him and causing him to die between March 17 and Sept. 1.
