Admission will be free on Saturday in all of Kansas’ state parks.

As well as an open house at state park headquarters, an OK Kids Day event will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. near the marina on the lake’s east side. Kansas Wildscape, the Cheney Lake Association and the Cheney Chamber of Commerce will assist with the event.
Included in the event will be the Tails and Scales reptile exhibit from from the Great Plains Nature Center, snow cones, a police dog demonstration, a fire truck and face painting. Interactive games, with prizes, are planned as is a free lunch at noon. There is also a kids fishing derby from 1 to 3 p.m. with equipment provided.
El Dorado State Park
To help celebrate Earth Day, the park will host volunteers for organized park clean-up and flower plantings from 8 to 11 a.m. A free biscuit and gravy breakfast will be served to volunteers at the Walnut River cabins, beginning at 7:30 a.m.
