Arbor Day to be celebrated Friday

The city’s park and recreation department will have its 60th Arbor Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at Dr. Glen Day Park at 27th North and Hillside.

Volunteers will be planting trees, forestry equipment will be on display and demonstrations of proper tree planting will be given. Project Beauty will have Caddo sugar maple seedlings for sale for $8. There also will be a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new playground in the park, and a tree-planting ceremony in honor of Day.

Students from Bucker Performing Arts & Science Magnet School will be in attendance.

The event is free and open to the public. If the weather is rainy, it will be moved to Saturday.
