Monday is Emergency Preparedness Day at Kansas State Fair
Are you prepared to react and keep your family safe in an emergency situation?
If that answer is “no,” then a trip to the Kansas State Fair might be in order. Monday is Kansas Emergency Preparedness Day at the fair. Visitors can receive information on how to prepare their family for emergency situations.
“Preparedness should be practiced every day, and September gives us an opportunity to refocus our efforts and get ourselves and our families on track for the winter months coming up,” Maj. Gen. Lee Tafanelli, the adjutant general and director of the Kansas Division of Emergency Management, said in a prepared statement.
Every Kansan should have an emergency kit for their home and car, develop a family plan and discuss it, and do their best to stay informed before, during and after emergencies, he said.
During Kansas Preparedness Day at the State Fair, numerous state and local agencies will be providing disaster preparedness and public safety information, as well as displaying emergency response equipment and drawings for prizes will be held. The displays will be set up near the Administration Building at the south end of the fairgrounds across from Gate 1.
Additional information on emergency kits and family preparedness can be found at www.ksready.gov/; www.redcross.org and www.ready.gov.
