Hunter bit by rattlesnake in western Kansas
In western Kansas, a hunter got more than he bargained for Monday afternoon when a rattlesnake bit him as he waded through high grass.
The Gray County sheriff’s Facebook page warned people to use caution. The county dispatch received a 911 call about the man shortly after 4 p.m. Monday. The hunter was rushed to the Western Plains Regional Hospital in Dodge City by EMS.
The Facebook post said an EMT drove the man’s pickup and dogs to the hospital for him. He was hunting pheasant and quail.
“Please use caution when working or enjoying the outdoors and beware that even though it is at the end of November, venomous snakes are out and do pose a severe threat,” the Facebook post read.
Record hot temperatures reached into the mid 70s across much of central and western Kansas on Monday. A cold front is expected to push through on Tuesday bringing more seasonal temperatures.
