Traffic lights out in east Wichita because of power outages

Wichitans driving to work Monday morning in east Wichita were met with a series of traffic lights out at major intersections.

The lights went out at 8 a.m. and included the intersections of Kellogg and Rock, Central and Woodlawn, Lincoln and Rock, Kellogg and Woodlawn, Central and Rock, Kellogg and Webb, according to a Sedgwick County 911 dispatcher.

The power outages may have been the result of storms that swept through the area overnight. Westar Energy was reporting 10 outages in east Wichita affecting 4,100 customers as of 8:20 a.m.
