Boil water advisory issued for eastern Butler County

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment on Thursday issued a boil water advisory for a portion of Butler County.

A loss of water pressure prompted the advisory for Rural Water District 3 and Public Wholesale Water District 8. District 3 extends east of El Dorado Lake, stretching from Rosalia to near Cassoday.

Only the area east of Blue Stem Road in District 8 is included in the advisory, according to KDHE. The advisory will remain in place until the conditions which prompted the move have been resolved.

Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination, state officials say.
