A passenger in a car that was speeding on County Road 5125 about three miles north of Liberty was killed after the car wrecked, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.

The wreck happened at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday in Montgomery County.

The driver, a 44-year-old Cherryvale man, was on a curve and lost control of the car. He ran off the road, dropping the tires off the road and onto a grass ditch before driving through a dozen fence posts, the report says.

Anthony Dewayne Ellis, 38, of Cherryvale, died.

A 31-year-old woman and the driver were taken to a nearby hospital. An 18-year-old passenger was not injured.
