Man found dead in burned house identified; foul play not suspected

Authorities have released the name of the man found dead inside a house that caught fire last week in rural Reno County.

William Jamieson, 57, did not die as a result of the fire that was reported shortly before 8:30 a.m. Thursday in the 900 block of North Dean Road, Reno County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Lutz said in a prepared statement.

Flames spread from the rear of the house, eventually engulfing the structure and causing the roof to collapse. Jamieson’s body was discovered after the fire was contained, authorities have said.

“The fire does not appear to be accidental,” Lutz said, but foul play is not suspected.

The incident remains under investigation, Lutz said.
