Reno County firefighters find body inside house that caught fire
A man was found dead inside a house that caught fire Thursday morning in rural Reno County, authorities said.
Firefighters were sent to a house in the 900 block of North Dean Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Reno County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Lutz said in a prepared statement.
When they first arrived, fire was engulfing the rear of the house. It ultimately spread throughout and into the roof, which eventually collapsed.
After the fire was contained, firefighters began a search and found the body of a man inside the house, Lutz said. The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting investigators from the Hutchinson Fire Department and the Reno County Sheriff’s Office.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
