Free firewood, mulch at Sedgwick County Zoo
Those in need of firewood or mulch can pick it up for free at Sedgwick County Zoo daily throughout the winter months.
The zoo has teamed up with Westar Energy and the city of Wichita to give firewood and mulch away between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m. now through February 2018.
New wood will be delivered to Sedgwick County Zoo’s north parking lot daily between 3:30 and 4:30 p.m.
No chainsaws, splitters or mechanical equipment will be permitted in the zoo’s parking lot.
The wood is provided through Westar Energy’s ReliabiliTree program and the city of Wichita’s forestry tree pruning and removal operations, according to a release. The zoo is part of the program to help reduce waste and conserve natural resources while benefiting community members.
If you have questions about wood delivery, call 855-937-8275.
