15 detention deputies to graduate from academy Friday

The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Department will graduate 15 detention deputies on Friday.

The ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Pathway Church, 2001 N. Maize Road in Wichita. The deputies underwent 11 weeks of basic academy training at the Wichita/Sedgwick County Law Enforcement Training Center.

They will now begin six weeks of field training, where they will be teamed with veteran detention deputies.
