Plane, helicopter rides will benefit Make-A-Wish foundation
The Make-A-Wish foundation is hosting its fourth “Wishes Over Wichita” fundraiser Sept. 20 at Stearman Field in Benton.
Tickets for scenic plane and helicopter rides are available for $40, $60 or $80 at www.eventbrite.com/e/wishes-over-wichita-tickets-12358060291# or by visiting Event Brite online and searching for “Wishes Over Wichita.” The aircraft will depart from and return to Stearman Field and will be flown by certified local pilots who have agreed to donate use of their planes and helicopters and the cost of fuel for the event, according to a news release. All ages are welcome, but each passenger must have a ticket and sit in his or her own seat.
A B-52 simulator experience will be available during the event; tickets for it are sold both online and on site.
The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. If it rains, the fundraiser will be moved to Sept. 21. Tickets are limited, so advanced purchases are encouraged.
Proceeds benefit Make-A-Wish, which grants wishes to children battling life-threatening medical conditions. A portion of food sales from the airfield’s bar and grill the day of the fundraiser will also go to Make-A-Wish, according to the news release.
