WSU athletes, firefighters and police to host free event for kids
Law enforcement officers, firefighters and Wichita State student athletes are teaming up to host a free event for third- through eighth-graders.
The 2017 “Shocks, Cops, Fire and Kids” event will run from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Charles Koch Arena, on the southeast corner of 21st and Hillside. Children are invited to participate in a day of sports activities and workshops with first responders and WSU coaches and ball players. Each child will receive a free T-shirt, lunch and other refreshments. There is no cost to sign up.
Space is limited to 150 kids and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Parents or guardians can register their children at http://ssc.sedgwickcounty.org/registration/sck.aspx. There’s additional paperwork on the website, including a waiver, that caregivers must either fill out and take to the event or fill out when they drop off their child. A list of expectations is included.
Drop off starts at 9 a.m. Sept. 23. Call Wichita police Det. Jennifer Wright at 316-660-9492 with questions.
