Augusta police chief placed on administrative leave
Augusta’s police chief has been placed on administrative leave.
Tyler Brewer, whose official title is director of public safety, confirmed on Saturday that he had been placed on leave but declined to say why. Augusta City Manager Josh Shaw did not respond to a phone message requesting an explanation.
Brewer has been with the Augusta Police Department for 14 years. Prior to that, he was the police chief in Jefferson City, Mo., for three years and was with the Wichita Police Department for 22 years.
