Funeral services set for former longtime Wichita fire chief
Funeral services have been set for retired Wichita Fire Chief Larry Garcia, who died earlier this week at the age of 81.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, 1817 N. Volutsia. Interment will then follow at White Chapel Cemetery.
Garcia was the longest-serving city employee, officials say. He was hired in 1957 as a firefighter and promoted through the ranks until he became fire chief in 1989. He remained fire chief until retiring in 2007.
