Meals on Wheels has its kitchen back. Now it needs some more volunteers to deliver meals.

The kitchen for Meals on Wheels was badly damaged in November by a fire. It reopened earlier this month at Senior Services Inc. of Wichita’s main building at 200 S. Walnut.

Also returning to the building were the Senior Employment and In-Home Respite Care Programs, according to a news release.

Meals on Wheels delivers hot meals each weekday to home-bound people 60 or older who cannot cook for themselves, according to its website.

A news release from Senior Services said the temporary relocation of its kitchen caused a loss of volunteers. The agency said it desperately needs people to deliver meals, which typically takes between an hour and 90 minutes and starts as early as 10 a.m. Mondays through Fridays.

People interested in volunteering can call 316-267-0122.

An open house to celebrate the renovated facilities is scheduled for 2 to 4 p.m. on April 29.
