Missouri man died of self-inflicted wound following chase in central Kansas
A 30-year-old St. Joseph, Mo., man was identified Monday as the man killed following a chase last week near Garfield in central Kansas.
Jason Dale Smith died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to a news release Monday from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation. Smith led law enforcement officers from the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office and the Edwards County Sheriff’s Office on an Aug. 17 chase which ended east of Garfield.
No law enforcement officers fired any shots during the incident, the KBI reported.
