If you’re thinking about trying your luck at winning this weekend’s $535 Million jackpot, you may be wondering: Where is the best place in Kansas to buy a ticket?

Leading up to last year’s record $1.586 billion prize, a grocery store in Leawood was the luckiest retailer in the state, according to the Kansas State Lottery.

In 2015, the Price Chopper at 3700 W. 95th St. sold winning tickets worth $1,935,674 — topping the lottery’s list of the 25 luckiest stores of the year.

The QuikTrip at 7701 Metcalf in Overland Park came in second, with winning tickets worth $1,806,019.

Also in the top five were:

▪ Gas and Shop, 1900 N.W. Topeka Blvd. in Topeka, $1,094,319

▪ QuikTrip, 15650 W. 135th St. in Olathe, $1,057,035

▪ Dillons, 3932 W. 13th St. in Wichita, $1,045,015

The amounts only include winning tickets greater than $25, lottery spokeswoman Sally Lunsford said.

The ticket that won the largest Kansas Powerball prize in the past five years was sold at the Fuel Express in Paola, according to the Kansas Lottery. It was worth $2 million in the Aug. 5 drawing.

Saturday’s Powerball jackpot — the fifth largest in the game’s history and eighth largest U.S. jackpot overall — is worth an estimated $535 million, with a cash option of $340.1 million.

To win, you need a $2 ticket with numbers that match the five white balls and the one red Powerball drawn at 9:59 p.m. Central Standard Time. Tickets can be purchased until one hour before the drawing.
