A solar eclipse safety demonstration at Lake Afton Public Observatory on Aug. 19 is canceled.

“We are completely out of materials to support,” observatory director Harold Henderson wrote in an e-mail.

Other groups and stores in the Wichita area also report running out of materials, like eclipse glasses, ahead of the Aug. 21 eclipse.

The partial eclipse will block more than 90 percent of the sun in the Wichita area shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday. Swaths of Nebraska, Missouri and northeastern Kansas will see a total solar eclipse, weather-permitting.
