I-235 ramp to I-135 to be closed for repairs Monday
The southbound I-235 ramp to northbound I-135 will be closed for repairs starting Monday.
The ramp, one of two that join the highways in south Wichita, will be shutdown for about a month while crews repair two bridges, the Kansas Department of Transportation said in a news release. Traffic on southbound I-235 will detour to 47th Street, exit eastbound and then immediately turn onto I-135 northbound back toward the heart of the city.
Repairs to the bridges include expansion joint seals and polymer overlays, KDOT said in the news release. The $151,179 project is scheduled for completion in early October, weather permitting.
The repairs are a part of the highway preservation component of T-WORKS, a 10-year, $8 billion transportation program approved by the Kansas legislators in 2010.
