El Dorado prison cuts visitation in wake of Thursday inmate protest
Prison officials have canceled visitation for Saturday at El Dorado Correctional Facility in the wake of Thursday’s unrest.
Visitation will resume on Sunday, though inmates in G and L cell house will not receive visitors “until further notice,” a statement from the prison said.
A protest by inmates at the prison lasted several hours on Thursday, ending at about 5 p.m. without violence or injuries, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections.
More details about the protest have not been released, though prison officials said the incident is under review.
