Hays fugitive ‘armed and dangerous,’ police say

Hays police are seeking the public’s help as they search for a fugitive.

After receiving a tip, Hays officers responded to the 500 block of West 12th Street on Thursday, looking for Joshua James Hoffman, Chief Don Scheibler said in a statement.

“Hoffman should be considered armed and dangerous,” Scheibler said.

Hoffman, 25, is wanted on suspicion of absconding on his parole for criminal convictions that include distribution of marijuana. He may have a handgun and was seen driving a gold four-door sedan with dents and possibly front-end damage.

Anyone who has seen Hoffman or has information on his location is asked to call the Hays Police Department at 785-625-1011.
