Shelley Duncan to head Project Access health care program
Central Plains Health Care Partnership, whose Project Access program coordinates medical care for low-income uninsured residents of Sedgwick County, has hired Shelley Duncan as its new executive director.
Duncan, now president and CEO of Emberhope, will start in her new role July 31. She replaces Anne Nelson, who retired earlier this year.
“Shelley’s many years working in human services have prepared her to continue Project Access’ mission of meeting the medical needs of residents,” said Thomas Bloxham, president of the partnership’s board, in a news release. “It became clear during the search and interview process that her personal values are in step with those of Central Plains Health Care Partnership.”
Duncan has led Emberhope, parent of Youthville and other child welfare and counseling programs, for 12 years.
About 60,000 lower-income residents – mostly working in the service sector – of Sedgwick County lack medical insurance or don’t qualify for Medicaid or Medicare. For 18 years, Project Access has coordinated medical care and medications for more than 13,000 patients.
