Pawnee County man charged with killing his wife
A rural Pawnee County man was charged on Friday with second-degree murder in the death of his wife late last year, authorities said.
Jacob Ohnmacht, 27, faces a handful of criminal charges in connection with the death of Kayla Dawn Parret, 21, on the night of Dec. 12 at their rural Pawnee County home.
Ohnmacht was charged with one count of second-degree murder, three counts of felony interference with law enforcement and one count of misdemeanor interference with law enforcement, Pawnee County Attorney Doug McNett said in a statement.
If he is convicted on all counts, Ohnmacht faces up to more than 54 years in prison, McNett said.
Ohnmacht was already in jail on unrelated charges. He was transferred to the Ford County Detention Center in Dodge City, where he is being held on $100,000 bond.
His preliminary hearing has been set for July 6.
