Reyona Caldwell could light up Jose Pepper’s with her contagious smile, co-workers say.

Now the east Wichita restaurant where Caldwell worked is doing something to help out the children she left behind.

Jose Pepper’s East, 11423 E. 13th St., is donating 20 percent of its proceeds from Thursday to the family of Caldwell, 36, who was killed at the house in the 300 block of North Ash she shared with her boyfriend.

Her body was found June 2. Police have not said when she died.

Dane Wright, who is said to be the father of one of Caldwell’s children, is in jail on a $500,000 bond. Wright, 29, has been charged with first-degree murder, arson and three counts of child endangerment.

Authorities issued an Amber Alert to help locate Caldwell’s three children, ages 11, 5 and 2, on June 2 after they said Wright fled the house. By that night, police had found the three children uninjured at a South Broadway motel and arrested Wright outside a grocery store nearby.

Police have said the house was intentionally set on fire after Caldwell was bludgeoned.
