UPDATE: Man shot twice in leg near Pawnee and Hillside

Police are investigating a shooting that occurred early Friday morning near Pawnee and Hillside.

A 28-year-old man was shot in the thigh and the calf just before 3:15 a.m. Friday in the 2500 block of Twin Oaks, Lt. James Espinoza said. He was taken to Wesley Medical Center in serious condition.

Multiple shots were fired in the incident, Espinoza said. One shot “actually broke his femur,” he said of the victim.

The calf injury was a graze wound. The victim and his 22-year-old girlfriend were at a party when a dispute ensued and the shots were fired.

But people at the house would not allow police inside to conduct their investigation, Espinoza said.

“Officers contacted several individuals who were very uncooperative,” he said.

In fact, people only reported the victim’s injury, not an actual shooting. Police have no description of the shooter yet.

“There was alcohol involved,” which is making the investigation more difficult, Espinoza said.
