A two-vehicle crash Monday afternoon northeast of Wichita claimed the life of a 90-year-old woman, according to a Kansas Highway Patrol report.

Ruth Rushing, 90, of Wichita died after the 2002 KIA Rio she was driving northbound on Greenwich failed to yield at the road’s intersection with K-254, according to the report.

As the KIA went through the intersection, which is just north of Jabara Airport, it was struck by a 1999 GMC Suburban being driven by a 36-year-old El Dorado man. The crash was reported at 12:15 p.m. on Monday.

Rushing was taken to Wesley Medical Center following the crash. Her next of kin was notified of her death just after 2:30 p.m., according to the report.
