Wichita police gave details Monday about a man who died after crashing on a stolen motorcycle.

The man who died is Bryce Reed, 27, of Wichita, said police Sgt. Nikki Woodrow.

A sheriff’s deputy tried to stop the stolen 2005 Yamaha motorcycle around 7 p.m. on Saturday; it crashed shortly afterward in the 800 block of West Lincoln, Woodrow said.

Reed died at the scene. His death is the 11th fatal traffic accident this year, she said.

Sheriff’s Lt. Lin Dehning said the motorcycle took off so fast that the sheriff’s deputy wasn’t actively pursuing it and had quickly lost sight of it. The deputy had shut off his emergency lights, Dehning said.
