Spring break weather outlook: Not bad at all
Students in and around Wichita have probably been staring restlessly out of classroom windows, wishing spring break had been this past week so they could make the most of the gorgeous weather.
But fear not, forecasters say: the mild mid-March looks likely to continue for several more days.
“Early next week is going to be a repeat of what we’re seeing so far this week,” AccuWeather meteorologist Andrew Gagnon said.
Highs on Monday could flirt with 80 before cooler air arrives. But even then, forecasters say, highs will stay in the upper 50s to low 60s.
A chance of rain arrives in mid-week, but forecasters say spring break won’t be a gray, soggy, chilly mess by any means.
“It doesn’t look too bad, actually,” said Jim Caruso, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Wichita.
The coolest days of the week will be in the upper 50s, which is about the average high for mid-March in southern Kansas. Considering how often it snows in March in the Sunflower State such temperatures are no reason to scoff.
Unless, of course, this past week has spoiled you rotten.
