Grass fire burns two acres in Hutchinson

A grass fire burned two acres and threatened several houses in Hutchinson on Friday afternoon before being extinguished, authorities said.

The fire was initially reported at 12:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of West 7th, Battalion Chief Jeremy Unruh said. Two structures and one vehicle sustained minor damage in the fire.

High winds helped fuel the fire, Unruh said. Five fire trucks responded to the scene and needed about an hour to put out the blaze.
