Two children found alone in apartment

Two children were left alone Friday night in an apartment in the 4200 block of South Hydraulic and were taken into protective custody, police say.

Police were called to the apartment at about 10:40 p.m. to check on the welfare of a 25-year-old woman, police Sgt. John Hoofer said Saturday. When they got there, the woman wasn’t there, but they did find a 3-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl who had been left alone, he said.

“The parents and responsible parties” arrived a short time later and were interviewed by police, and the case will be sent to the Exploited and Missing Child Unit for investigation, Hoofer said.
